Services

Do you need help with managing your payroll? Or maybe you would like assistance with your end of year tax return?

Aries Chartered Accountants specialise in all financial matters and have a strong team of qualified financial advisers on hand.

We offer a wide range of financial services, including:

  • Company statutory accounts preparation
Companies are obliged to prepare accounts to a standard in keeping with the Companies Act 2006, and to submit accounts to Companies House within nine months of the year end. We prepare accounts for clients using our software designed to ensure that the accounts comply with legal requirements. The accounts are in a format, which is suitable for clients, banks and HMRC. Subsequently we will submit abbreviated accounts (far reduced disclosure requirements) to Companies House online.
  • Management accounts preparation
Running a business has been compared with going on a long car journey. You would never envisage doing the latter without knowing where you are going, or checking along the way that you are heading in the right direction. Unfortunately, many businesses do not operate on this basis and set out without any clear idea as to what the business should be doing and rarely check how the business is performing along the way. Is it any surprise that such businesses do not get to where they should be going, or if they do, it takes them twice as long as someone who does?
  • Self-assessment tax returns
We complete Income Tax Returns for over 500 clients, dealing with the increasing burdens which apply to them. It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to ensure that the Self-assessment Returns are completed correctly, and submitted on time, otherwise penalties will be applied. We aim to remove this burden from you and ensure that the Returns are dealt with appropriately, and that you are advised in good time of your liability to Income Tax as it falls due.
  • Tax compliance
The burdens on individuals and businesses in complying with increasing complex tax legislation can be significant. With our knowledge and experience, we will lead you through the minefield of legislation and ensure that your affairs are kept up to date and in order.
The penalties for late submission of personal Tax Returns are significant. Late submission will give rise to an automatic £100 penalty with no mitigation for early payment of tax. Daily penalties will follow for continued lateness up to a maximum of £900. Thereafter the penalties will be the higher of £300 or 5% of the tax liability, each six months.
  • Company incorporations
There are many reasons why businesses incorporate and mostly it is not for the widely held belief that it saves tax!
Businesses should choose the vehicle appropriate to them and if this involves a sole trader-ship then so be it. At some stage, proprietors will wish to protect the assets they have built up, from any adverse factors affecting their business. The obvious way is to form a limited liability company. By using such a vehicle, in the majority of cases, there will be no personal liability of the shareholders or directors if the business founders.
Other reasons to incorporate include the ability to take on outside investment by way of loan capital or additional shareholdings. Further, some businesses wish to have greater commercial credibility which running a limited company often brings.
  • Cash flow forecasting
Many businesses fail, not because they are unprofitable, but because they are unable to manage their cash flows to ensure they can continue trading. We can assist you in forecasting your trading figures based upon your knowledge of your business and our experience of cash based forecasting. In this way, we can identify the need for additional cash funding and identify sources of raising such finance.
  • Business tax planning
Our approach to taxation for businesses is to ensure you only pay the correct tax due under the legislation. Firstly, we believe that your systems should be sufficient to enable you to identify the taxes due, be it VAT, PAYE or Income/Corporation Tax, and to enable you to make timely and correct returns, to avoid interest and penalties applying.
However, we go further than this when we are reviewing client affairs. It is often possible to arrange your affairs to choose the least tax option in generating and withdrawing funds from businesses. This does not rely upon complicated or expensive ‘tax avoidance schemes’, but simple, acceptable steps to minimize your exposure to tax.
  • Bookkeeping
